Ferrous Metal Processors Recognised for Sustainable Innovation at the MetPac-SA 2026 Sustainability Awards

Ferrous Metal Processors (FMP) is proud to announce that we have been awarded Third Prize in the Sustainable Innovation Award category at the inaugural MetPac-SA 2026 Sustainability Competition.

Our award-winning submission, “Closing the Loop on Aluminium Aerosol Packaging,” recognises years of investment, innovation, and commitment towards improving aluminium aerosol recycling in South Africa.

The independent judging panel recognised our work as an outstanding example of circular economy leadership, highlighting the measurable environmental benefits achieved through our recycling initiatives. These include increased recovery of post-consumer aluminium aerosol packaging, significant energy savings, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, and diverting valuable recyclable material away from landfill.

For us, recycling has always been about more than processing scrap metal. It is about ensuring that valuable resources remain in circulation, reducing pressure on natural resources, and helping manufacturers meet South Africa’s Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) objectives.
